Hi Guys
I have exhaust gas leaking where the stainless steel endcan meets the black part of the exhaust pipe. I have tried to attach some photos.
Any idea what should be used to seal or pack this, how does it come apart?

I wouldnt worry unless its blowing a lot. They all do it.
It doesnt come apart without breaking it normally

It is blowing a fair amount and the seems to be rust? coming out in little bits, you can hear a tinkering noise as they shake about

Unfortunately Yamaha only used stainless steel where you could see it. The internals are all mild steel and despite the drain hole, water collects at the bottom and rusts through the end plate. The exhaust is then free to blow through the gap you can see.
I forced silicone sealant in there with some success, but the silencer will gradually get more rattly as the innards rot.

I have just done mine. I used JB Weld.
You can use the original version or the Kwikweld version which cures in 10 minutes.
I left it over night to set and no blowback any more.
It will fail again after 2-3 years as the gases are corrosive and eat away at the adhesive from the inside but clear it out and re apply again and job done.

i used some cheap JBweld "ish" exhaust repair putty i had laying around and i can say that didnt work
proper JBweld and really jamming it in will be the next plan untill i can afford a new aftermarket can and link pipe
(and if that dont work out comes the welder and vht paint)

Yep..common problem , I used gumgum , sealed the gap , smoothed it round with a wet digit and painted the pipe with VHT paint from halfords , worked a treat for years......I have since picked up a used standard end can off ebay for something like £20 in excellent condition , repaired one is in the shed should I need it.......

just had a scan around fleabay and its suprising what you can pick up new including link pipe delkevic system including link for 130 quid
cant be a bad buy surely (shouldnt have bought this pack of beers for the evening - would have been there in a few weeks[size=78%])[/size]

remember if you block the surrounding edge there is still a drain hole to blow through - unless you block aswell but then no drain holejust ordered a new link pipe and can from Black widow exhausts for a mere £118
its the best im likely to find at that kind of price with removable baffle / on ebay the link pipes are around £40 alone
might slice open the OEM exhaust to show what is going on inside of there

took photo of the JB weld fix.

after seeing what was in there im glad i went with a replacement
take yours off and shake it about - if it rattles then time for a replacement
i ended up using the dissection picture used earlier as i had my camera lens the wrong way and missed loads out
