Title: rear preload adjustment
Post by: sc0ttie on 21 April 2017, 06:35:09 pm
I've been doing two up riding lately, mainly because my girlfriend will now come on the bike since the weather has warmed up. I think rear suspension might need adjustment, although my gf is petite, the extra weight on the rear seems to make the rear of the bike lower. In the attached photo, does it look as if it's set quite soft already? How many notches to should I turn the adjuster to improve rear suspension for two up riding?

yeah it is on soft side I would move it 3 clicks and see how it is from there, after giving it a good spray of wd40 or similar.

Can't totally remember but that looks less than halfway i think?
Turn it at least 3 notches up i reckon.
If you're prone to having to take a pillion then the next time you change the fork oil definitely go for 15w oil too.

Thanks all, I have adjusted it now, 3 notches up and it feels pretty firm now, where as before it felt a little saggy. I was surprised the adjuster moved quite easily. I will ask the other half if one of those slip mats is a good idea Darrsi, she hasn't mentioned slipping but will ask her anyhow.
Cheers

They literally don't budge with those mats, it will be you that notices the difference even more than her.
I found it to be a really good idea and it works brilliantly.  :thumbup
