Post by: Bimbam on 28 February 2017, 01:38:21 pm
Hi. Took the bike outside today and started up (for the first time i 12 month). Then there was gasoline comming out from under all 4 carburetors. It was like 0,1 liter i 15 sek!! any idea? :'(

Was it coming from the overflow pipes or from the carbs ?? possible stuck floats causing them to not shut off, try tapping each float bowl with handle of screwdriver to move floats back and seat needle valve

Durr , just re read the post it's coming from under each carb , was the fuel shut off for the 12 months you left the bike ? Could the fuel pipe from the pump have deteriorated and split , it seems strange that all 4 carbs have suffered the same problem at the same time , if it is each carb you will have to figure out the place the fuel is coming from
I recall reading a few of your posts about removing carbs and replacing seals/orings and replacing inlet rubbers , could you have missed something when you refitted them ??

Hi. I havent done anything with the carbs. I had surgery i my shoulder, and the bike has been stored i 20 c degrees garage for 18 months!  :o ( 2 winters and 1 summer) The tank have been removed the hole time. Just fitted the tank today and the engine started fine, but the bike was stuttering because the gasoline was running out. Well i have just contacted the local workshop. He will look at the carbs next week . I am going to have the valves checked anyway, the bike has gone 52.000 km. I will be back with the result, when i get the bike back.  :)

As previous would guess at floats  stuck and you seeing overflow?

Doesn't the overflow come out of a single pipe?

Is it not more likely to be a failed fuel line or joint between the tank/fuel pump/carbs?

I cant see if it is comming out of just one pipe. The gasoline went down from all the carburetores. When i closed for the fuel, i could still see gasoline comming from the the big rubber gasket. (o-ring)

i wonder if the fuel feed to the carbs has deteriorated/ brittle/cracked and fuel leaking from that is running down and travelling across all carbs ( as they are joined ) making it appear it's all 4 carbs leaking
