Title: Kit cleaning
Post by: Dudeofrude on 23 January 2017, 10:39:08 pm
Anyone have any recommendations for cleaning crap off of textiles? I went for a decent ride earlier and my jacket is absolutely caked in road grime/salt etc
I chucked it in the washer on the hand wash setting but doesn't seemed to have shifted anything?
I'm not sure I can put it on a hot wash so does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks

Depends on your gear fella.

Had same with my Rukka Gore Tex gear last week.

Used non-bio (liquid or powder) on a 40 DegC synthetic wash with a low 700-900 rpm spin - do not use conditioners or fabric softeners!!
Due to being Gore Tex it needed a gentle tumble (synthetics again) for an hour to restore the Gore Tex properties.

If it's not Gore Tex then I'd follow the same route but obviously you'd need to apply Nikwax or other water repellent sealing.

Good luck  :thumbup

I doubt it's anything as fancy gore tex, it's an Rst jacket so it style over substance haha
It's an Rst Tundra so I'm pretty much sure it'll just be the best quality cheap materials that the 9 year olds in Bangladesh could be bothered to find
Still, I don't like looking grotty so gonna have to maybe try another cycle in the washer?

Cool wash and Woolite, rinse and spin, hang out to dry. Take any body armour out first.
