Title: Fzs 600 high mileage ?
Post by: danyboy on 14 March 2012, 05:30:55 pm
Hi to all,i have been trying to get a 2000 fzs 600 working that had stood outside in a garden for three years, open to the elements. After cleaning the carbs, changing the plugs + new battery & putting another non rusty petrol tank on it,it now starts, the mileage on the clock,is over 117,000,does this sound right for a year 2000 bike,or is it possible the clocks may have gone nuts from sitting outside in the damp.Any advice would be great

Yes, it's entirely possible that the odometer is correct. Allowing for the time it's been stood that averages out at 13,000miles a year which is pretty easy to clock up if it was used to commute to work. It's roughly the age I swapped the engine out from mine, but I've heard of others that are still running on the original motor at higher mileages than that. How does the engine sound?

More than possible, have had my Fazer a bit over 9 months and done 20k already. Its a great little workhourse if :D you keep to the maintenance schedule and look after it.
