Post by: paul1962 on 04 November 2016, 07:01:05 pm
Just a quickie on how much would it be to have my carbs balanced, or for a kit to do the job myself ?have tried a google on this with varried results
but how much have peep on here paid to have it done, or is there someone close to Chester with a kit that could come and show me how to do it

thanks

To be honest mate there really isn't a set fee for it, normally the garage will charge just an hourly rate for however long it takes them, that's at least what I paid when I had my done recently

Personally speaking if you're gonna keep the bike for a while then try and get hold of a good condition Morgan Carbtune kit.
Easy enough to use once you get to find the adjustment screws on your carbs, and very satisfying being patient and getting them balanced spot on.
After 2 uses you'll have got your moneys worth rather than paying out to a mechanic.

Thanks guys will keep an eye out for a decent set as its always good to have a tool for the job, and I think I need to invest in a workshop manual but need to look at doing a few
things to her this weekend now she has a full Mot ticket

Certainly worth getting a Haynes manual, they're invaluable even if they're wrong occasionally  :lol
Have a look in the downloads section.

Just buy a book, computers vs cold & greasy hands just don't work the same.  ;)
