Free delivery though :)

I can appreciate that there is high end audio stuff and those that can hear the difference, but over twenty grand for a speaker cable?  And you need two :eek

Surely the price would be for the pair, I doubt very much you'd need to pay per cable?
That really would be rubbing salt in the wounds.  :lol

Free delivery- I'd want it to be delivered by Taylor Swift naked in a bowl of M&M's with all the blue ones removed for that price.

I entered the competition to win the 1 metre silver IEC (kettle) lead.
I don't need it, or even really want it, i've got thousands of bog standard ones at work, but i just had to give it a go 'cos they're saying it's worth £2000, presumably to the the person they saw coming dropping money all over the floor as they walk.

A few years ago someone on another forum saw some optical link cable which was gold plated! Eventually the company must have got fed up with us asking how the gold plating improved an optical signal because they removed that bit from the advert.

Be nice to have the time to actually sit down and really listen to music.

I'd even leave the blue m+m's in if Taylor Swift delivered em naked.................mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I think the high end audio cables etc must be manufactured for women, after20 years of listening to a nagging wife you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between Nakamichi and Alba...........

Years back I worked with a lad who was a bit of an audiophile, he too spent huge on his system. He had 'special' albums for test purposes, I always felt he never really enjoyed music as he was always looking for faults- pops hisses, dropouts, clicks and distortions shame really. Anyway last I heard he got married with kids and it all had to go.

I paid £50 for an old marantz amp, £25 for a pair of old Warfdale XP2's, £1.50 per meter for some oxygen free speaker cable and it sounds bloody great to me.

If a so-called 'audiophile' will do blind testing to show even o2-free cables give better response, then maybe there's some mileage in it. They won't though.

All those high end cables are snake oil. I still don't get why anyone would pay £25 for a gold plated hdmi cable, when a £1 special from poundland will do exactly the same job.

13A mains cable is more than good enough. All this oxygen free nonsense is just that.
I can remember one HiFi expert in a magazine claiming reversing the cables often made improvements. Probably just a dirty contact on the terminals for heaven's sake.

HDMI cables are just a posh version of a scart lead.
We try and avoid using them as much as possible at work as they are very fragile, and break easily or fall out. They weren't really designed for use in the film industry though, where stuff gets yanked and shoved about, but they're fine stuck behind your tv in a corner at home where they're left well alone.

Scart uses analogue signals so is susceptible to interference much more than HDMI which uses digital signals.
Gold plated cables HDMI are snake oil. The signal is there or it isn't for digital, nothing inbetween so no degredation using £1 cables normally.

My eldest worked for Currys for a while. They used to get bonuses for selling the gold plated ones at £40 a go. Cost to Currys was about £1.

Interesting. I think it's a bit like the water supply, do you get 'clean electricity' free from spikes or noise if you use the high end cables? Also, I wonder if you stay closer to a generating station do you get a better quality of product through the mains?

:lol we could easily put this in the What gets my goat thread!

I was using that term as a way of saying they're both shite, unless left well alone.
I s'pose I think a bit differently as I'm handling rental film/video equipment every day so see the negative effects of misuse or the results of people with heavy hands.

Heavy hands? we're back to Black Sabbath again.
