Trying to get throttle cables back in to the carbs/bars....
Seems to be no way to do it without having carbs out i.e. get cables seated at grips first then at carbs, but even so very difficult
any one got any tips?
Seemed a lot easier on the 600!

I've never had to do this with the carbs in place but I'd connect the cables to the carbs first and the throttle tube afterwards. A fiddly job but should be possible. Wind the adjusters in to give you max freeplay.

OK they are in....fiddly is not the word!
I noticed also 2 fraying wires on the push cable, i might replace it, whats the usual best practice on cables, any sign of any fraying replace?
never had to replace a throttle cable before

Replace it, before it gets worse causing a sticking throttle or jams or snaps.

any recommendations on where to get cables, wemoto look ok.....10 pound a cable....

Yep, replace ASAP! Last thing you want is a sticking throttle, it's Friggin petrifying, and it always happens when your going too fast in the wrong place at the wrong time!!!
Seriously, for the money they cost, it really ain't worth leaving it and taking the risk!!!

My 'pull' throttle cable snapped the other day in the middle of no where (75kms from home) but I managed to get the bike and myself safely home. Don't know if the cable's been replaced before. When I bought this bike it had about 75k kms and it is now just over 100k kms so its not bad going if this is the original cables.
Anyhow, as was suggested, I too ordered both replacement 'Slinky Glide' cables from Wemoto, and looking to have them installed soon. Wemoto, I highly recommend their services and assistance.
Now for the hard part installing and the old cables! Hope the removal of the carburettors is not going to cause me grief. :'(

Replaced both of mine last weekend because my push cable was a bit frayed. I pulled the carbs halfway out - until the throttle cable cam on the carbs is just outside the frame. It allows easier access, particularly to the pull cable which is a bitch to get in. The push cable is fairly easy.
I did the carb side first, pushed the carbs back in, then did the twistgrip side, and finally the adjustment.
Cables from ebay – just over £30 for both. Gave them both plenty of lube first. Use one of those little cable lube gadget thingy’s. I’ve had one for years - they work well !
