Title: Maxxis Supermax
Post by: Gingernutz on 12 March 2012, 10:35:54 pm
I'm a tight arse and rather than coughing up for premium tyres I was wondering about these - Maxxis Supermax.
Anyone used them?

Gringo ran 'em on his thou for a while bud, seemed to do ok mileage wise and he reckoned they were fine for commuting iirc.
Raymy ran 'em too, he didn't rate 'em in the wet on his 6 mind you.

Might have had summat to do with the weight and power of the thou compared to the 6?

6029's touring cracking underated tyre i have had em on a zx 12 and r1 and lasted and performed well within my riding capibilitys
the diamonds are shit period and the sports dont last as well as the touring
but i dont see the point on 200+ for tyres when maxxis tick the boxes for me at a way better price

this is the touring version 6029 i think is the suffix

Thanks lads - Luke particularly - If they are good enough for you I will order a set and see how I get on. My last Road pilot 2s are square as foc but I got huge mileage on them and can't fault them but I paid £288 fitted (didn't ask a price  so got ripped off)

Bike went through MOT today and got advisory on tyres so time to bite bullet. I asked the garage what they thought of maxxis. I might as well have asked what the thought of crabs. He said he'd fit them but they were really shit and he would recommend the cheapest of the continentals. The price for fitting is £60 so £190 all in for maxxis. For an extra £75 I could get road pilot 2s. - seemed a no brainer tbh

I have Maxxis on my Diversion 900, i rate them, infact i'm on my 3rd set. £139 a pair off Ebay & tbh i will fit them to my fazer 600 when there needed, i don't see the point of paying £50-£70 more when they are just as good & do the job more expensive brands do?
