Title: TRX 850 Torque arm
Post by: doug1e on 09 September 2016, 07:21:34 pm
Hi all, I've just done the TRX rear brake caliper upgrade and I'm very pleased with the result - excellent rear braking efficiency and superb sensitivity. My one concern is that the TRX torque arm doesn't line up accurately between the hanger and the swing arm mounting points. To get it to fit I had to force it on and therefore it must be under some sideways stress. Any comments or suggestions would be welcome.

Its not the arm that will fail. its the alloy blob on the swing arm.
Picture is not my bike by the way this was after a 1000 arm was fitted to a 600 and possibly over tightened down the postings somewhere

Thank you for that link Fazersharp, sobering thought! I took the arm off this afternoon and offered up the original (Fazer 600), same problem it was out of line and would only be forced on which would put a lateral force on the swing arm lug. I've refitted the TRX arm with an alloy spacer between the "jaws" of the arm, a longer bolt and located it outside the flange on the caliper bracket. I'm happy that this will do the trick. Thanks again for your help. I'm trying to post some pics to show what I've done.

On the other hand I was not convinced about that lug, to me it looks like it has already been re welded - one of the reasons perhaps for the black painted swing arm
