Title: Fresh Boots
Post by: NorthWestern on 07 September 2016, 08:01:49 pm
Time for new tyres, after years of Michelin pr2/3/4's I decided to try the new Dunlop Roadsmart 3's.

Feel good so far, but then any new tyre does when replacing an old un...

Supposed to last longer than pr4 s so will see.

Nice tread pattern.

I had a new set of those fitted to my Gen 1 before a trip to the South of France via the Alps.

I rode in cool damp UK, Hot and dry France and torrential rain with flooded roads in the Alps, they coped very well with no issues. Nice and stable and the bike turned in without undue effort, after 2500 or so miles they have hardly worn.

I would recommend them  :)

Yeah these are also on a gen1. Rained this morning and they felt great

How do you manage to get both your tyres to wear out at the same time?

Just coincidence in this case really, I generally go through two rears for every 1 front.  This time round it was the end of the second rear so I needed both.

Need a bit more time to heat up compared to the PR3/4s

I've not noticed that to be honest.  The major difference I have found is they are a lot more neutral in steering. The Michelins liked to fall into corners where these are less eager.

Oh, and the rear is wider than the pr4 which was more like a 180 than a 190

Ah! 180/55 ZR17 is the correct size for the Gen 1 Fazer 1000 :eek

What difference/s did you find with the 190?

Absolutely zero.  It just looks better :) plus using the r1 caliper and hanger I got rid of the unsightly torque arm completely
