This guy is a legend. 73 years old!

Speaking from a hospital bed, he told the BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-37224187): "The bridge was coming down, almost like in slow motion, because it's eating its way through the lorry.
"But then it tore away from the other side. As that came down, it was a matter of throw the bike on the floor and go for it."I've a few broken ribs, but they mend."He added: “I moved to the outside lane. There was only one place to go. I threw the bike on the floor and went under.”His Yamaha MT-07 was left trapped under the bridge, which came down on the London-bound carriageway between junctions three and four, near Maidstone, Kent, shortly after noon on Saturday.
“My first thought when I came to rest was, ‘Oh well, there goes my bike’. It was a great bike.”

would be a great bit of PR but I won't hold my breath
-
Ya ..saw his interview ..great attitude
-
Definitely needs an award for coolness & quick thinking....possibly a second career as a stuntman as well. :)
I'm not at all sure I could have done that!
-
You know he's a real biker when he says “My first thought when I came to rest was, ‘Oh well, there goes my bike’. It was a great bike.” :thumbup

There's obviously a fault with the MT07 if they only do 70mph on the motorway. Maybe he was fed up with it anyway :pokefun
I know that stretch of the M26 quite well and there are a few cameras around there now so well done fella. Lets hope the insurance company don't sting you too badly and maybe Yamaha could do something nice.

maybe Yamaha could do something nice.
You'd like to think so wouldn't you but I doubt that's going to happen.

As said, 73 and a legend, I broke a few ribs but really liked that bike. If we know where he is we could chip in and send him a bike plaque or something saying "sod everything I've still got my bike"...........and badger the hell out of Yamaha for an upgrade.

One of those fund pages like the one for the have -a go biker who got acid chucked at him for his efforts.
And another thing, I only heard about the chap on here but I have seen the news reports a few times which never once mentioned the biker.
Yet again its a bike related story that is not news worthy unless they are being done for doing 200mph or something

Perhaps they'll find out which tyre brand he was using and they could do something too...
Wow if he was wearing underwear by George, well, the world is his oyster :rolleyes

Cool and calm on the outside ----- maybe, but I don't think anyone would like to see his underwear
