Title: Couple of modest changes...
Post by: Andy W on 28 July 2016, 07:13:23 pm

I'm loving my "new-to-me" Gen1 but hate sticky-out stuff on bikes so Dremelled down a used tailpiece & put a smaller plate on....ditched all OEM flashers for tiddly ones & got rid of the insect antenna mirrors & put some bar mounted ones on..!
Won't be to everyone's taste but I'm a lot happier with it now!  :)

(Still experimenting with various borrowed screens to find the best one for me turbulence wise - 6'2" with chronic neck problems).

If your struggling with a screen you might want to try one that has been cut down to the same height as the fairing, that way it will deflect the air lower and fresh undisturbed air will hit you which is not as bad as turbulent air. Looks cleaner too which may suit your tastes :)

Liking the decals on the bike, did you make those yourself as I've been after a similar set

Look like Kenny Roberts "speedblock" style decals, some of the forum members have had these made in the past, I think awesome graphics still sells them, not sure if they do them in a red colour like the ones on the OP's bike.

FWIW I think the bike looks nice with what you have done, the graphics are smart.

I can not claim any credit for the paint work...previous owner Carl ("Donkey") had that done...it was the reason I bought the bike!  :)

If you do decide to change screens let me know - I'd love to make you an offer on the one you have on the bike now. 🙂🙂

Looks very nice

What's the make of the mirrors please.

I have an MRA adjustable touring screen for sale, very good condition, very light polishing scratches if you hold up to light so looks almost like new. £45 posted.

Hi Des,
The mirrors are Highway Hawk "Sharp Teardrop".
Nice screen you have there - looks OEM height? Is that the bolted thru deflector?
I'll get back to you if I'm interested once I've finished experimenting!
Cheers,
Andy.

Hi Andy

Thanks for reply.

Can you now see with those mirrors ?

Yes it's a bolt through deflector perfect fit on bike, 7 click adjustments does not move at any speed when riding. Smoked

I'm not normally a fan of white bikes, but that looks really nice.
What have you used to blank off the mirror holes?

I splashed out on these...although not listed as so, after a bit of research I worked out that they also fit gen1 Fazers.

Silly extravagance really when I could have made some plates - but they are very nicely made & look more professional.  :)
