Title: Gear lever

Hi all

Searched google with no luck.

How much free play should there be in gear lever.

Mine moves up about an inch of freeplay before I can then move up more to select gear.
It makes it hard to adjust for boot as I ride with toes on the pegs then slide foot forward to up shift.
I need the gap to slide boot in but then there is a lot of movement to select gear. If I reduce gap its hard to get boot to slide in nicely and I still have the same amount of free play.

Has the spring gone weak? does it hold lever in up position?

I have seen the R1 mod but is mine normal at moment ?

R1 has shorter shift linkage, less lift to select gears

Might have found the answer here, away on holiday today so cant check for a week or so
