Title: Rear sprocket nuts/bolts
Post by: sinto on 02 May 2016, 07:06:02 pm
Just wondering if anyone's had a problem replacing the rear sprocket nuts/bolts?

I've just recently put on new chain and sprocket set but on looking at them again today I'm thinking I might of sheared 1 of them :(
How easy are they to replace or do I need to get a whole new carrier?

Cheers.

They are studs which screw into the hub. I have found normally the threads in the nut strip before the stud shears.

Cool so just some new nuts 'oh err missus' are needed?
Standard nuts or best going to ajsutton etc?

£41.16 to get a full set from Sutton or £20.16 to just get the nuts, either way cheap enough for peace of mind I think :)

The nuts are M10 x 1.25. You can find stainless flanged nuts on ebay cheaper than Yamaha items, no rust either  :D

Cheers Mr bloggs,

Wont I need some form of springs washer for these as original yamaha ones have nyloc in them? Guessing a tube of locktight will do the same job :)

Their serrated so when you torque them up they'll bite into your sprocket. You could use thread lock but they should stay put.
I'll always swap for stainless, cheaper than standard and no worries about rusty nuts

I've never liked the idea of having rusty nuts :rollin :rollin :rollin
