Title: Yellow colour match

Hello Foccers, can someone confirm that the correct colour match for my bike is reddish yellow cocktail. Bought a touch up pen pack from wemoto and it looks nothing like it. It's coming up much too dark and stands out like a sore thumb. I know the colour may change once it's lacquered but it's got to look similar to start with. Am thinking I'm better off just matching it with a car colour from Halfords. Don't know if the second photo has anything to do with the paint code.
Any ideas ?

I would match it on the RS Paints website and order from them. Bit more expensive but at least it will match.

Even better than RS would be a trip to a good local paint factor - they can mix up some paint for you to an exact match to whatever you put in front of them. This then takes into account any fading or other colour changes that may have occured since the piece that you want to touch in was painted originally. RS can only supply you a factory colour match unless you take your bike / pieces to them!


I use Express Paints in Portsmouth - they keep adding tiny amounts of colour to a base and dry it under an infra red lamp thing and until the match is spot on. The aerosols that Express Paints supply are considerably easier to use than RS aerosols. While on the subject of aerosols the Pro-XL range of lacquers etc. is astonishingly good and easy to use. I haven't used Halfords products for some years, (so they may have improved) but compared to speaicalist paint factor products they used to be very poor indeed, difficult to apply and ran so easily that any sort of flat surface quickly had more runs than Geoffery Boycott.

The Official Yamaha Name is "Reddish Yellow cocktail 1" RYC1 The one at the end is a shade number and needs to be included when specifying the paint colour.

Well, according to the package, that's what they sent but as you can see it's so dark. Looks even worse on a chip, almost a mustard colour.
Might send it back if I can and as suggested, take a trip to a local paint factor.

Possible the yellow on the bike is faded, is it out in the open much? Check under the tank near the edges to see if the colour looks a closer match. If not contact the suppliers

Always put away under cover since I've owned it and the belly pan is brand new OEM part ready painted and matches the rest perfectly.
Just been on th RS website and they are listing another yellow "performance yellow" still a reddish cocktail.....Starting to get confusing isn't it

Thank you fro your email. i am sorry there seems to be a problem here. We have tried a different formula and tried to match with the photo you have sent this is not easy and i can not be sure this will be right but its the only other one we have. I will send this out today for you it will be two bottles as we cant see from the photo if it has a pearl affect . You will get one yellow and one pearl. I hope this is ok?
The main problem we have found is that yellow is such a fast colour in every way. It even dries fast making colour matching extremely difficult but then you know this as you ride a yellow bike and must have massive kahooners.

My Fazer 600 had Yellow Reddish Cocktail paint code and bought some aerosol paint from RS Paints and was perfect match.
