Title: Throttle grip housing repair?
Post by: Marc125030 on 09 February 2016, 08:15:19 pm
My throttle grip lug which stops the switch rotating on the bar has snapped off, is the a diy repair or will i need to source another switch assembly?

I would say your better off just replacing the housing, they are cheap enough. And as it happens I have one of a 2005 model (dosent have the headlight switch) if your interested.

Not sure a repair will hold, get a replacement or wrap some (as best you can) colour matched gaffer tape around the bar, then refit "snug". It's usually enough to stop them spinning.

Cheers

I cut mine off and just used electrical tape around the bar to clamp it tighter so I could go renthal, works fine!

I managed to repair the old plastic housing with a cut down screw

I drilled a suitable hole in the lug where it had snapped off and used a screw to create a thread then cut it to a suitable length and voila it holds perfectly
