Title: High level link pipe
Post by: robbo on 04 February 2016, 02:55:59 pm
I'd like to go with the high level pipe look. Would the best option be to import the link pipe and can bracket from Holeshot Performance in the States, or is there a UK company that could replicate the same quality item. Preferably down south, as they'd need the bike to take the necessary measurements.

I think you need a MIG high level with " Jean Marc " stickers and an under tray...
Hi Robbo,  :D

The Ixil's look good, very much like the old Migs. What I like is the small diameter of the can with a big outlet. Personally I prefer the single pipe look, but that twin pipe set up certainly makes a statement. When the Gen 1 first came out it seemed every owner in France had gone for that look as well as R1's, so I knew that if I ever got one, that's the way I'd go . Even though it's taken almost 15 years to take the plunge.

I imported my H/L link pipe and bracket from Dale at Holeshot as I couldn't find anyone doing them in the UK. I already had a spare SP Engineering can which fits no bother.  Its a great set up in my opinion.

Hi Smurfbud,
That looks the business. I'm swapping e-mails with Dale at the moment, so that's the route I'll no doubt go as it saves taking the bike to a pipe bender to take measurements etc. Love it.

Why thank you kind sir ..... I like it .... had a set of PR4s fitted on Thursday and done a complete front brake caliper service/clean today ready for the coming season. Got a new Nitron to put on to replace the Ohlins (too high a spring rate) and thats me all ready for 2016

Good luck Robbo .. Dale is good to work with .... I am sure you will get a satisfactory result. I did for my old FZ8 as well as my FZ1-S.
Post some pix when sorted mate

R1FSR,
That's a real head turner. Well that's certainly given me something to think about. I had a quick look at their site and all their cans are oval, whereas I want round and small diameter with a big outlet. Using the blueflame link pipe could mean the can I choose will not run nice and close to the bodywork like yours and Smurfbuds, but certainly an option. Thanks for posting the pic, "She's sure fine looking man".

hey Robbo
not sure if they still do or not but they used to make them to your spec/length/size might be worth giving them a call...just a thought .

Well I had a quote from Dale at Holeshot for the link pipe and fitting kit, and when freight, import duty and VAT is added it's a non starter. However thanks to the guy at SP Engineering, I've located a stainless pipe bender within 5 miles from home. Showed him a picture of what I wanted, "Piece of cake" was his reply. Just what I wanted to hear, so just need to sort a can and let him get on with it.

R1FSR,
Is your Blueflame can only supported by the bracket coming from the footrest hanger mounting holes, or is there also another fixing from below the seat area.
Thanks.

R1FSR
Hiya,
I was incorrectly informed by an exhaust "specialist" that the high level can had an additional bracket coming from the undertray, which was why I asked the question at the time, all in hand now.
Thanks for your reply.
