Title: Accommodation in Switzerland
Post by: Hedgetrimmer on 02 February 2016, 08:13:03 pm
Is there actually any such thing as reasonably priced accommodation in this notoriously expensive country? Hotels/B&B/hostels? Or is there a border region that is close enough to travel from on a daily basis to explore the heart of the Swiss Alps? Or should I just face the fact that if I want to go there, it's gonna cost?

Try the Robinson family. They specialise in cheap accommodation and the last I saw of them the little bastard fucked off to school on the mainland so they should have a spare bedroom.  :b

I was impressed with the Hof und Post (www.hotel-hof-post.ch (http://www.hotel-hof-post.ch)) last year . Around £45 B&B per night and in a great location.

Switzerland doesn't have to be expensive - booking.com used carefully can get good deals on the day and many gasthofs, zimmers and pensions are very cheap off peak (as ^ in the summer).

Be aware that the motorway can only be used with a vignette and these don't come cheap, so trying to stay in France, Germany, Austria or Italy and do day tours into CH is not that practical. The A-roads can be slow, but nice and of course the mountain passes were made for us.
