Title: minor crash
Post by: Val on 22 January 2016, 02:11:32 pm
You may remember my workshop bing bang starting issues.

Here is the spill that comes with it  :rollin

Cold weather -2 Celsius this day, and the bike was not starting at all. After Nth try it has started. Before starting there was fuel explosion in the exaust can. That has happened twice this day. Once in the morning and once on the way home from work. Apprently the explosions has disconnected my link pipe. The pipe has touched the ground I have crashed rodeo style. Luckily it was not the motorway.

How do you call that? High side, low side? The back of the bike has trown me up I got back on the saddle and got down with the bike. I think its low side.

Firstly, glad you are ok, as you say, could have been worse :-)

I don't think it's any kind of side.  A low side is when you turn into a corner and the front tyre looses grip and falls from under you.

How's the bike?  How's you?

The bike sounded ropey. I would have stopped to check that rather than carry on.

Did you eliminate the TPS the other day, 'cos that could make it run like a biscuit tin full of nails?

Thank you Harry, I am fine, the poor bike has crack on the front fairing and small scratch on the can. I was thinking to paint it red anyway come spring time, so no big deal.

Not sure. I have looked under the tank checked the fuel lines. Looks fine. Checked the plugs. Also look fine. Added some fuel staibiliser. Then it starts fine. But today is not cold. Looking to order new exaust can and a link pipe - Delkevic looks promising and its cheap  :)

I would like Remus but £500 can looks like overkill to me...

Soon it will have major service by professional mechanic not me. I mean complete brakes calipers rebuild, changing of the brake hoses, carb cleaning and ballance plus valve clearance. That should fix dodgy starting issues hopefully...

It may sound strange but looking back I feel happy now  :lol

Glad you're ok Val and hopefully the Furygan gear is not damaged (love the stuff and have loads).

More importantly, glad you decided to keep the bike and not sell it to me  :lol

Glad your OK VAL and your bike and gear in reasonable condition apart from slight denting I'd presume :eek

As far as I recall....lowside is when the bike slides from under you either on a left or right hand direction but a high side is when it flips from that lowside generally causing more damage and heartache. :(

Eliminate the TPS, do a search for the quick and easy process, i'd do it myself for you but i went to a funeral yesterday and can only describe my current condition right now as "rough as foc"  :b
I swear it feels like the Grand National is going on inside my bonce right now, and there's just been a few fallers  :crazy

Highside is when the rear brakes traction then suddenly grips throwing you over the other side
