Guys
Just got in from the daily commute (traffic v bad in SE London) to find I've holed my rad - not sure if it's corrosion or a stone but hard to identify exactly what the cause is.
New one from Yam looks like around £370, any ideas on what my options are :eek
Any ideas would be v helpful!
Thx

Thanks Mick, price is good :)
I'm hoping someone can recommned which one to go for (both made in China) + have you tried any of the rad seal products?
-
I ordered one of those cheap Chinese radiators and it was useless. Some of the mounting brackets were missing and it was poor quality. I sent it back but they claimed they never received it (even though it was signed for) so wouldn't refund me. Luckily I paid on my Credit Card via Paypal so my Credit Card company refunded me.
I eventually bought a genuine Yamaha one from here http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/2008/FZ1+-+FZS10XCR/RADIATOR+HOSE/parts.html (http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/2008/FZ1+-+FZS10XCR/RADIATOR+HOSE/parts.html)
With Import Duty and VAT it came to about £270. Not cheap I know but still a saving of £100 on UK prices.

Any decent rad repairers will fix it for about £40.00
I am sure you will have some near where you are.

Nope - its curved, all the mounts are wrong and the cap/thermostat housing is wrong - will only fit the FZ1 not the FZS.
Here is a correct rad and cheaper @£79, buy this and then get your repaired and keep as spare or sell on.

It's a 2009 bike so I reckon I was just about right. ;)

Your local rad repair shop will sort it. Even if it is completely focced, they can rebuild a rad for a gen1 from scratch for not very much money, at least that's what the guy who fixed mine said. He did mention that the genII would be a serious pain because it is curved in two dimensions, but it would still be possible.

Guys
Many thanks for all your help - Partzilla looks good especially as it's discounted from $400 and xchange rate is VG as well. Chinese copies seem a bit risky but the sellers get a 98% ok feedback so 1:50 chance of it being an issue and £200 saving!
I'll have another look tonight and see if I can figure out exactly where it's leaking - looks like it's the matrix.
Don't think rad seal is a sensible option.
Thx again
-
If it's the Matrix you are in trouble! Red or Blue? ;)
-
Am sure it's the base of the matrix but not leaked too badly today so will keep it going until I wort out the poa.
Red! :eek

Yes, apologies. For some reason I thought the bike was an FZS not an FZ1
