I just came back from a ride out and when i went to feel if the silencer was still hot before i put my bike cover on, I was able to wobble the end can by just lightly pushing it in toward the wheel. I noticed this movement was happening at the point where the end can slips on to the black exhaust pipe. Is this normal this kind of movement only I have not noticed it before? Is my end can on its way out or already knackered?
-
this is normal they all do it, some more than others
-
Ah right, thanks for clarifying that. Just started it up and could feel some exhausts gases escaping around that join but if they all wobble like that it must be ok. Cheers

There is a seal/gasket between the downpipes and the link pipe to the end can. Its made of a Graphite type material. When it starts to break up the end can will start to wobble.

Is it repairable or not worth it?
-
Its easily repairable, remove the end can and the seal normally stays in the pipe attached to the end can. Use a screwdriver to break it up, slide the new one on the front pipe and then slide the end can over it and tighten everything back up.
BUT its only really worth doing if the exhaust is blowing from that joint.

Number 7 - I think they are just less than £20

Thanks Deefer that is another job for me to do before the MOT in Feb I think as it is blowing there and seems a bit louder.
-
Once it starts to blow there it normally only gets worse.
