Title: Fz1 reg rectifier
Post by: Mike01 on 27 December 2015, 07:01:46 pm
Evening!
I have been checking the volts on my battery since it died after sitting for 4 weeks or so... All seems ok, holding high 12v and drops to 10.9 on cranking. I checked what was going in and it's 15.1 on tick over, no real rise at 3k rpm..... The bike was stone cold and only left running for around 30 seconds.
The quick search I have done suggests this is too hi but should I have left the bike running a while to test fully or will that make no difference.
I will check again tomorrow, not going back out now  :lol

That sounds fine to me....!

Maybe a little high but the battery condition you describe is technically speaking "fucked" so it will charge as high as possible to put some life into it..... 10.9v cranking is nowhere near enough.

Get a new battery, induct it properly and you problems will disappear.

Hi.
I was happy lol shows 12.8 no ign, minor blip to 10.9 when cranking then straight up to 15 when running. Google lied as most links I read from searching said 9.5 and below while cranking is not healthy.
 :lol

A battery that reads 12v one hour after coming off charge is, as the Whale suggested, fucked. Get a new one. Treat it a a christmas present for the bike.

Yep I have given up trying to convince myself it's ok  :lol
Although the bike is starting fine the battery is obviously on its way out, it's holding charge is dropping slightly every time I check.
Found the Yuasa YTZ14S for 64£  :)
