Just looking into this my self as one of the last flight routes has just been issued here https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=zJoGZd3-Qg5U.k3u8IUZTll6M (https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=zJoGZd3-Qg5U.k3u8IUZTll6M)
Looking at it I can get to see it twice - once at rutland water and then at Bruntingthorpe - here is my route thinking
here (https://www.google.com/maps/dir/52.6545536,-0.6071852/52.4829479,-1.1520388/@52.6333574,-0.805969,11z/data=!4m24!4m23!1m20!3m4!1m2!1d-0.7472988!2d52.6840124!3s0x48778061994aa895:0xfecc75f1ba75d311!3m4!1m2!1d-0.8903126!2d52.7639621!3s0x4879d41ff138456b:0xc3f005770a65d192!3m4!1m2!1d-0.941632!2d52.5106005!3s0x48777066f45752d9:0xa9e8121d4004acaa!3m4!1m2!1d-1.1404972!2d52.4956747!3s0x4877685a5ff29f7f:0x7bd9a67631fc3b55!1m0!3e0?hl=en-US)
the planes route starts north and gos clockwise right down to the south coast so there maybe a lot of time to kill in between the two points
So just thinking is anyone interested or am i on my own---- ( But if it looks like rain then YOU are on your own )
Sunday 11th Oct

the map isnt working right it was supposed to go to melton mowbray
fixed it
the route takes in one of the best biking roads in town
Those who did the middle earth run may recognise some of it
-
Portishead looks like a good spot for a double take.
-
Portishead looks like a good spot for a double take.
I suppose that there would be a few others but I was just looking at that one as it is in my patch, I know there are a few other focers in middle earth too
-
If theres a group I wouldn't mind turning up just for a social, would be in my car but depending on speed and traffic I could try my best to keep up on the run.
Fazersharp, you have a route planned?
-
When ???? oh dear when?????
-
I'm heading off to Herne Bay to see it :-)
-
would be in my car
:eek :faz !!! How about we come to your house in Grantham for lunch on the way
I have made my route link clearer in my first post. So far it only includes the route from Rutland water to Bruntingthorpe and also I cannot get it to show a full run around Rut water which I plan on doing
It will be on this Sunday but timings are yet to be released by the vulcan peeps on Friday but I think take off from Doncaster is 1 ish, and Rut water is one of the first ones so would be 1.15 ish
Rutland water is a good run out and also hopefully a good viewing spot, I have uploaded an animated giff of two options by the road. There is a car park pay and display further up the road but that would mean a long trek back along the shore line in me bike kit but that would also mean that we are a bit closer than from the side of the road.
As for bruntingthorpe viewing the airfield is surrounded by trees but not sure if they are letting people on the site or if you need tickets or what.
Not sure is the best outside view would be the south east side and watch it come in or the other end and watch it climb out
-
Flying right over my house!
-
This is going within about 10 miles of my house when it flys past Dunsfold. Cant see anything about times on the website yet. Knowing my luck it will be while I am watching my youngest play rugby in Caterham though :(
-
The times are being announced on Friday
As well as the Sunday run I also plan on nipping up the east mid airport On Saturday
-
Anyone know what time the timings will be announced?
Trying to organise my day around seeing the Vulcan one last time.
-
If you click the points on the map it only shows a time + from take off but as yet no take off time.
-
They're not publishing a take off time apparently as the police don't want huge crowds to appear at Doncaster.
The route has now been extended to take in the outskirts of Edinburgh and the borders, with a bit of luck i'm under the flight path, let's hope for good weather. :thumbup
-
If they don't publish the time how are people meant to be on the route to see it?
-
Is it going over port Stanley
-
Is it going over port Stanley
Yeh.....jeremy clarkson is flying that sortie.......one way ticket apparently :b
-
mmmmm....still no times :\
-
Apparently it's going to happen between 4 and 4:30 pm, the wife has seen it on facebook so it must be the gospel truth as we all know facebook is the font of all knowledge.
Reports that High Wycombe is to be bombed from the face of the earth can neither be confirmed or denied.
-
thought that myself a few times CELTICDOG :rolleyes .....we got more than our fair share of scumbags here in high wycombe :rolleyes .....on the plus side we also have some RED FAZER RIDERS :thumbup :lol
must be a good reason for holding back the times, going to try and view it twice with my son,bit of a challenge for my son, timing and route planning, got to get him away from his X-STATION and show him theres more exciting things in real life ;) ........got him watching the website for times today, will post as soon as i know...
-
Im off to East mids airport to day and luckily its on the vulcans home run so will be 3 hours after take off but only take me 1 hour going the long way round ;) :faz
-
TO today is estimated as 1pm.
Want to know about tomorrow though as where I want to see it is a 2 hour ride away.
-
Same here for me tomorrow as the Rutland water flypast is + 15 mins after take off and I am 40 ish mins away (the direct route ). But looking at their twitter they announce when they are on board which is usually about an hour before take off
-
I don't use tw@tter and the XH558 website and mobile app are not working well today. I guess too many people are trying to get updates.
-
Just got back from east mids airport and its was a no show !!!!!!!!!!!!!
There were 1000's of people
Had a good ride out thought, long way there 32 miles--- short way back 20 miles
-
Lots of up dates on twitter.....shame about the no show FAZERSHARP :\.........still no times for tomorrow's flight...might not be able to spot twice if I dont get the take off time in time.......
-
Flew right over us on the golf course! Got a belting view it was low.
-
Well, I never managed to see ANYTHING! :'( wrong kind of cloud apparently, hey ho there's always tomorrow.
Good luck with getting a view tomorrow red98, :thumbup Let's hope someone posts up a pic or two :rollin
-
I was fumbling with my phone trying to take a pic but it decided to go slow, missed it :(
-
Cheers celticdog....yep, we need piccies :useless
-
Here's some shots to try and show how many people were lining the perimeter, they were parking 2 deep on the verge I just pulled up to the cones that you can see and the cops stepped aside :smokin
I would say that there were about 2000 people there all excited only to see it veer off about 2 miles out
-
Cones in this one - oh and another fazer showed up this red one,

Yeh there is a lot of very angry people on twitter and the vulcan facepage
I ant bov as I had a good ride out the back route and got to surprise the shit out of a 1000cc power ranger clad rocket rider around some twisties, oh he was a brave big boy on a big long straight alright which is when he went past which i was then content to let him do.
-
Looking at twiter and facebook rummer and speculation. The vulcan twitter says it was due to departing traffic ---now I was there and there was no departing, a jet 2 or what ever was clearly on hold by the side and had been tere for at least 15mins - a clear path was there.
Then there was a light in the distance which was a cesna and behind that was the vulcan about a mile or more behind.
The cesna landed and for a short while the vulcan was still approaching and then banked north and that was it.
Some are saying that it was short of fuel after doing an un scheduled pass at Endinborough but then it seemed to have had plenty for a few laps at its home in doncaster for some air to air shots with a helicopter.
People were told not to go to doncaster as it was just going to come straight in and land -- they were lied to as it did laps whilst being filmed
Those people (loyal supporters ) did as they were told and kept away and instead went to EMA and also parts north of derby and Sheffield which also was missed in favour - it looks like - of a photo shoot to go in a future dvd to sell and keep certain people in a nice cushy job.
Looking at twitter and facebook those miffed people are now all going to go to doncaster on sunday
-
looks like its going to be the same today,no times as yet, yesterday the times were released 2hr before take off on twitter, iam not a fan of twitter but looks like the only way to plan my day.......THE PLAN...first "spot" will be north weald airfield,by the side of the M11,will park up on the airfield perimeter road south of the airfield, think this will be a popular spot so need to get there early, its about 1hr drive for me...second spot will be ludgershall turning point just south of bicester, will use the back lanes, most spotters will be on the A41....i hope ;) ....that gives me 2hr 35 mins travelling time.....only down side is i`ll be in the cage as son wont get on the bike :\ ....got to make the effort though, you dont see this everyday, and could be my last chance, but i have noticed on official website they are listing a "final flight" towards the end of the month..........
-
I'm off to Rutland with some friends and their children, supposed to travel in their car although with the weather looking good it maybe my last chance to have a comfortable run with the lid down on the Eunos so may take it anyway.
-
https://twitter.com/GlosAirport
yesterdays time of pass,, today from a different direction,,= other way round loop ?
seems to suggest 15.35pm
-
Cheers for the heads up my willy :thumbup

I will be on my bike at the spot I marked in the picture on the 1st page ------- come and say hello

Look at my photos yesterday at east mids airport ------ you should expect that, there is no way I would of got parked in the cage and then also would of got stuck in a 400+ car jam to leave
-
Yeh, expecting it to be busy there, could do a "drive by the fly by " :lol....we have no luck there we will go straight to lugershall, I know of a farm track thats very close to the turning point ;)
-
Just checked XH558 website, flight info will start at 11 AM......nothing yet but will be watching ...
-
If the gloucester time and my maths are correct, take off time is 12.50....... nothing on the site yet but think I might make take off ;)
-
Just announced 1 pm take off. So I need to get to Rutland water for the flyby at 1.15 which means for me a NOW ish take off.
Fazersharp is on board and taxiing to the end of his driveway :D
I know of a farm track thats very close to the turning point (http://foc-u.co.uk/Smileys/efocicon/wink.gif)
So will everyone else --- all the proper plane spotters
-
I'm in field on south shore. Ran out of time to drive round any further h
-
Back home - splash and dash and back to east mids airport for another go
I was at rut water and it was a crap view -photos later.
Jobloggs were you in an open top sports car by any chance
-
had a fantastic view at weald airfield.stopped about 1mile north of airfield in farmers field.valcun banked right above us.....fantastic.couldnt of been better.lunch now and onto luggershall for second spot of the day :D
-
We r at Gloucester waiting
-

Note to Red...........borrow your sons x-station and you could actually fly an Apache helicopter....or switch helicopters and be a door gunner at the press of a button instead of all of this twittering about and crowds and strife.....a few spliffs and a couple of whiskys and you can then be flying whilst flying whilst shooting stuff...all from the comfort of home.......how does this not appeal???? :lol
-
Watched it go overhead my house in Bristol at 14.45 whilst I was cladding the bike shelter , didn't have time to take a picture .
-
So there I was at east mids airport trying to take a picture of my bike and this focing big plane came across and spoilt it
-
Here is the crap view I got a rutland water earlier-------------can you see it
-
Although these fellas managed to get a little closer :lol
Shoved my bike right next to them just see it in the bottom of the picture as the road was solid both sides --no chance turning up that late in the car
-
Another shot showing how busy at Rutland water
-
East mids turning in to flypast and my black fazer and another fazer that turned up (who was also there yesterday )
-
I went to Whitstable to ser it come over the water from Sheepy. 160 mile round trip for about 20 seconds of vulcan activity.
-
Got to luggershall just in time, vulcan was early and cut the corner, was driving down the lane to get to the farm track and there it was.....emergency stop jump out and get my second "spot"of the day :D....carried on down to the farm track where the turning point was to be greeted by a dozen or so disappointed faces, made the effort to walk down a very muddy track only to miss out ........had to show them my pictures from north weald to cheer them up :D
all the pictures I post on here are from my phone, I used my fujifilm today, last time I had trouble posting from the camerz but will try later, got two good piccies from many that I took....
a good day and well worth the effort, even my x-station addicted son was impressed. ?..one nil to XH558 :thumbup

If you were wearing a fluorescent green/yellow textile jacket I think I saw you twice but both times on the road, sure it was you unless there are several black fazers sans the grabrail.
Great view of the aircraft from our vantage point
-
We got lucky at 3.28pm Glocester airport, came right over our head and down the runway line,,never got a picture though, my camera went into standby power save, takes 4 seconds to wake up,,damn,,lol
The boy had his hands on his ears shouting "too loud" "too loud",haha,, it sure is loud.
-
Jobloggs were you in an open top sports car by any chance and did you wave at me near the place with the field gun outside
Yes I had a greeny yellow high vis on and also have the 2 boxeye lights wired on togetherand no grab rail
-
Yes, I'd seen you on your way but we couldn't risk carrying on just in case the traffic was bad so stopped about a mile or so before your spot, sorry about that but had car problems to sort (not mine) and were lucky to get there on time.
My pics, not owt special but only use phone these days(http://s19.postimg.org/6yu62ezzn/WP_20151011_013.jpg)(http://s19.postimg.org/y85jgx12r/WP_20151011_012.jpg)
-
Ah ha --- it was you then I have just googled what an Eunos is ---- thanks for the wave fella
My view was crap from the exact place it should of flown straight over ( see the photos in my earlier post )
I thought that you looked like this ---------------
-
Saw it earlier in the year at Weston Air Show,
but enjoyed 3 passes over South Bristol this afternoon. Awesome.

22 years old this year and straight through the MOT
Nowt special but its a fun car for not a lot of money, call it a hairdressers car if you like, but you'd change your mind if I took you on my favorite road :D
-
Yep 130 miles total today Rutland water and back and then to EMA - great weather - took the back routes nice ride and filtered past at least 100 cars out of EMA :thumbup
-
Not the flattest runway around
got a picture when the camera woke up,,about two miles away on zoom,,,better not give up the day job
-
I went down to Herne Bay to watch, I thought I would have the whole family with me but no, the wife wasn't feeling too good, so I asked the kids if they still wanted to come, no was the answer REEEESULT, I'll get the Fazer out, then, just as I was heading to the garage my eldest (9) asks "can I come with you?". I've got no bike kit for her so it was back to the cage..... the best laid plans....
Stood at the end of the pier and she came across in front of us waggling her wings. 20 seconds was all it took, but was lovely to see her one last time.
No pics I'm afraid, I wanted to watch the plane and not faff about with a camera and watch it through a viewfinder/phone screen.
-
No pics I'm afraid,
No pics :photo --- it didn't happen FOC rules :deal
-
That first one's a great pic, Fazersharp. :thumbup
I took both the decent camera and my old compact to Farnborough this afternoon for the flypast, but decided I'd end up missing the event if I was concentrating on getting a good shot. So, as the SLR doesn't do video, I stuck the compact in movie mode at wide-angle and just aimed it in roughly the right direction while I enjoyed the spectacle without looking at the screen.

Cheers - its just a phone and a crap camera on it too Nokia asha 201 you have to press the button about 2 seconds before you want the picture, but like you and harry hornby i wanted to see it with my eyes and not through a shitty screen so I just lined it up and watched over the phone. Had the get the bike in though :smokin
-
Took the family to North Weald airfield, great to see it swing by. Kids thought it was epic!
-

my dad lives 10 miles from EMA so parked up at a pub nearby, he wasn't too gutted it was a no show lol
Did you/ he get to see it when it came back the next day

just spoke to me dad, yeah he managed to find a spot along the fence at EMA. as a ex-flying "arse'ole" he was well chuffed lol
-

The website/newsletter/twitter feed and app were all rather useless I thought. The only route map I could find was the on the tracker (at least that worked today!), but it would be more useful to see where it was going beforehand.

I find that some good "intel" is from the anarock plane spotters forums (sorry anaracks )
-
tbh I don't know but I'm guessing from where he said, he could see down the runway either where you were or other end!
however as he's local he might have taken the lane up from Lockington!
-
Almost caught today's announcement in time... it's just landed.
The final flight was only a very short one, and by the time I got to YouTube the streaming video feed was broken anyway. :(
-
Completely missed all of it ------------- but then I think that was the plan
