Title: Grommets for vacant grabrail holes wanted
Post by: joebloggs on 05 September 2015, 10:23:42 pm
No grabrail on the bike (came with damaged rack) and the holes in the tail section are approximately 26mm dia. Anybody plugged theirs and if so what grommets did you use and where from?
Thanks

I used some (black in my case) sticky back plastic, two layers cut into a lozenge shape to cover both holes on each side in one go. That way nothing sticks up and is almost invisible. I used two layers so that it was a bit thicker because with one layer you could still see an indent where the holes were

Just for info. Be careful, there was a tail end change of the Fazer 600 about 2001 ish where they changed from the tubular grabrail to the moulded one. The holes are a bit bigger in the later bike.

Looks great, I unfortunately have metallic orange/bronze paintwork so would be hard to match although carbon tank protectors may be an option
Thanks for that

Thanks for the offer but as has been stated in another post the holes in my tailpiece are to large for those.

I think the tank protector spots are the way to go

Thanks again :D

metallic orange/bronze paintwork

So a custom paint job, if you have any then you could paint the spots.
In real life and not a photo you can see mine a little and I am mindful when cleaning not to press and "dish" the holes.
I think the bike looks better without the rail - along with jacking up the numberplate and cutting off the end of the rear fender

Paint was done before I brought the bike, spots work for me as they would appear to have a purpose if you know what I mean
Agree with you re removing the rails, as I said I never had any in the first place but I'd have probably ditched them either way.
Of course now I'll have to change the ones on the tank to match as my ocd will bug the hell out of me
