Hi everyone i could do with a bit off help im looking to buy a fazer around a 05 reg...qs is what miles are classed as heigh...whats average miles...im moving up from a 125 and always went for low miles on bikes ive had...but ones around my price range 2k to 2.5k ish seem to have 25000 miles on...is this heigh for a 600 fazer or am i worrying too much..example ebay 1 owner from new fsh 24000 miles 2100 pound.does tht seem ok ?..i want to tour europe(little dream off mine ) any help from those with more experience than me be greatfull ; )

25k is nothing for these bikes, especially over 10 years.
Presumably you're only looking for a fuel injected FZ6 rather than a carbed older model?

Hi yea im thinking off the fuel injected one...however i did my lesson on a carb one 2000 reg..and loved it..but pefer the looks off the newer fazer....do you think a 1 owner 24 tho mile 05 reg one is worth 2 grand then...i knw its hard too tell by jst wht i put but i have totally no idea...like i say it be my first big bike ; )

You will get all sorts of replies but you won't be totally happy until you've seen it. As has been said, 25K is nothing for a one owner 10 year old bike but go and have a look and a test ride (if possible) first.

Don't just look at what miles have been done, check to see if it has any service history and the all round condition of the bike, a high mileage well looked after bike is usually a better buy than a low mileage abused one.
24000 miles is only 2400 miles a year, average for a bike is usually considered about 3000 a year.
There are plenty of FZ6's for sale out there, take your time, look at a few before you make any decision, take a cynical mate with you when you go to look at them and a hpi check can be worth the money.

As long as it's in good nick then the money sounds about right after having a quick look about.
I've obviously got the carbed model so maybe you should ask on the FZ6 section what to look out for, what questions to ask or if there are any mods that need doing at all that if not already done could cost you further money?

Haha, a loaded question. :lol
I was actually reading a review earlier today on the FZS600/1000 & FZ6, and they weren't keen on the FZ6 for some reason?

The other thing with regards to checking out the mileage of a bike, is how much was done recently. If 1 owner did 24K over 5 years, then has left the bike to stand for the last 5 years, only wheeling it in for an MOT each year, then look out for all kinds of issues: from duff battery to solid cracking tyres and more. It's also a sure fire recipe for gunked up carbs too.
A bike that's been regularly used and maintained will ultimately be the best buy.
A look up of MOT history on GOV website will give much of this away.

my 2006 FZ6N has 43,300 miles on now. most of the time I'm riding with 1000cc sports bikes, so to say it gets a bit of stick would be an under estimation, It gets an oil and filter change every year or 5,000 miles, chain lubed every week, bike cleaned with insect remover and WD40 to get chain lube off the a polish with Mr Sheen.
Changed the coolant, fork oil and brake fluid last winter and put new spark plugs and air filter in, greased swing arm and rear shock.
I would think it's worth £1500 ish but mileage puts people off, if it was a car it would have very low miles? bikes that are stood for years without being used I would stay away from.
Most cars do 100,000 miles + so why not bikes.
