need to take the front wheel off make sure you take it off backwards not forward the drive is on the left side as if you where sitting on the bike, make sure you do not force anything as the speedo drive lugs will snap just take your time, make sure when replacing the unit that you put the lugs into the slots before putting the wheel back on its an easy job but just take your time and if you have some help will be easier to do.

Are you sure you don't need only the rotor?

The rotor bit ref is 5RB-2517G-00-00 (the latest model) 23€ at Yamaha Spain

Quote the above part number at a Yammy dealer. I've had to do this before and it was easy to sort.  Getting them to find the part number is hard work as a sale of a whole new speedo assembly and sensor is much more profitable.

The sensor shouldn't die short of you cutting the wire, but the magnetic cup with the two tabs is easily broken (mostly by quick tyre fitterS!!!)

Aye I found one thanks, £17 from my local dealer. I rang some other suppliers but and they charged the same, even a yamaha boat engine shop can get them in, the fella on the phone sounded confused when he got the part description back tho  :lol .
