Post by: jobby8 on 22 July 2015, 10:00:36 pm
thinking about getting some of these for a bit more legroom as ive had hip replacements so could do with a little more. anybody used them and how much does it effect the gear lever and brake positioning etc. your thought would be appreciated

Jobby8 see my post my new lowered foot pegs, these are the vario  type pegs. In my post there are photographs. I have dodgy knees and since fitting them I can now use my bike.
Fitting them is a doddle, you will need to grind the ends of the retaining pins on the hangers from the underside , not a lot involved , tap out and remove  the OME fitted foot rests.
20/30 minutes max fitting time for new ones, do not forget the Loctite Blue or at least Silcon, just to ensure everything stays in place.

I used a set last year and couldn't get on with them. Yes, they made a noticeable difference to my knee angle and it was more comfortable, but the adjustable part of it sits right in line with the gear lever, meaning you have to turn your foot inwards a lot every time you change gear. That for me outweighed the extra room I got, so I took them off raised the seat height by an inch instead.

I bought these from china just under £40 inc shipping.
they use a solid pin with pre drilled holes to keep them from moving.
well made and worth it .
you see them in ebay ,got mine in about 3 weeks.
