Think I am off to pastures new , the old knees are crocked so time to call it a day.
Hopefully have sold the FZ1 and hopefully she is going to a good home.

-
Sorry to hear this.  What are your plans for the future?

-
Had a sit on the MT-07 seems a better fit for me now not so much pressure on the knees. I have just received the front peg lowering kit. A lad has been tracking my bike on FB for a week or so. He has made an offer which I have accepted. If it falls through I will fit the kit and see how I feel. The wee MT-07 is just so much lighter and as said more comfortable. Will obviously miss the power of the FZ 1 but at 66 do I need that much grunt now. If the tiddler can keep me biking for a few more years that will be all well and good.

Good luck with the sale and as usual post some pictures of whatever you get next..

Sorry to hear of your problems Lew. I hope you can find something that keeps you riding for a while longer yet. Good luck.

-
Im not sorry Lew, you are staying on bikes and that is good enough 8)

let us know how you get on with the MT07 around those Spanish hills.....still got a soft spot for them.
-
I find my Mt-07 light (176kg all up),nippy, agile and comfortable-even though the rear shock is definitely "budget" This bike suits my old bones just fine :lol
Was speaking with local Yamaha dealer sales guy earlier-they have sold out this years allocation already with 2016 model not due in til towards end of year.

Sorry to hear thst  Lew, know how you feel, my right knee is temporarily sorted for now but an operation is looming come the  winter.
I hope to keep my FZ1 for another two years then I hit 60 years old and like you I like the look of the mt07, nice and light and fast enough.
-
Hope you can keep biking and it all works out for you.

 Take care,

You've got years left yet our kid ... I know we are not all the same ... so I'm pleased that you are going to at least try a different bike.
At your age I started bouncing about from one to the other for years ... then after I 'fell over' with the third FZS 1000 I ordered the Sports Sidecar and Honda CB 1300s.

I struggle (more than a bit) getting out of the wheelchair or off the 'clip on' Ivanised crutches ... but once I'm up on the bike I'm good for a ride-out  8)

Keep me in the loop ... and if you win the local Lotto ... pop over for a coffee  :b
 Stay Safe  ;) Trev    Mallorca

Oop's may have spoken to soon, nothing like some prick pulling the rug.
Umpteen emails facebook messages , please keep the bike for me love it , flying out on Sunday , I have a house not far from you in Spain, do you want me to pay you in ££££ or €€€€, blah blah.
Message yesterday cannot get insurance so will have to pass. So will be staying a bit longer.
I have fitted the front foot rest lowering kit, feels a lot more comfortable, have lowered the pegs about 27mm so we will see how I fair.
Will take a few photos and post.
Took me about 15 minutes to fit.

What have you done with brake and gear lever?
Have you adjusted their positions to compensate for the lower level pegs?
-
Hi Slappy, I have not been out on her yet. Just sitting on it and trying the brake and gears seems okay. At least I can now get my left leg up onto the foot rest with out any problem.
If this is a fix I will be delighted, to put it back to standard is like less than 5 mins.
Yamaha in there own wisdom have fitted the stock pegs with a rivited securing pin. Just a wee touch with a disc grinder and knock out the pin, watch out for the return spring.
So weather permitting will see how she rides tomorrow. Lew :)
