Title: today i did think i goosed my gearbox
Post by: Paulfzs on 13 June 2015, 10:33:41 pm
had a long motorway trip and almost at my destination i couldn't change gear i was stuck in first, i changed down fine but that was it so i parked up engine off still wouldn't go into gear. got rac number ready and kept trying whilst being so annoyed...

Looked around the gear lever and noticed the bottom sprocket cover bolt had come undone and wedged under the gear lever  :rollin :rollin did it up by hand as best i could and all is good!

Well done, could have been rather embarrassing if the RAC guy had to spot it. I carry a hexagon key in the tool kit for that size of bolt but never had to use it so far.

The 2nd person to have this issue in a few weeks, a torque wrench prevents this sort of thing, i checked mine out of curiosity and they were solid and going nowhere.
