Post by: anutz on 08 June 2015, 12:36:59 pm
I took my rear hugger off a while ago, at one point there was a siezed bolt i had to drill out but took a rubber fitting with it...

This is how it SHOULD be...

Not sure if this will fit but search for top hat grommets http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/19-mm-Top-Hat-Grommet-X-2-2-Free-Great-For-Hydro-Systems-Aquariums/151681993968?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140328180637%26meid%3Df0e76d722feb4be59c7ae95a991eb5df%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D181614362892 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/19-mm-Top-Hat-Grommet-X-2-2-Free-Great-For-Hydro-Systems-Aquariums/151681993968?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140328180637%26meid%3Df0e76d722feb4be59c7ae95a991eb5df%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D181614362892)

If your wanting to put it on while you source the correct grommet.......
1 nyloc nut and bolt
2 larger washers
2 rubber washers (or plumbing washers)
1 small washer that fits in hugger hole.

Thanks Sinto...

A potentially silly question....what happens if you ride without one.....now i will clarify, i actually left mine off for a few rides as i like the look of it...

A friend said thats nice, until it sucks you in and spits you out.....

I looked at things and even with the hugger on there is a lot of chain where you could get some clothing caught...but then why the hell would you have tassels on when riding a bike..

any way - any issues any one forsess riding without one - aside from getting stuff caked in dirt...

Either ride with a hugger or a chain guard, never without either one of them.
The main reason is safety as any loose clothing could get caught in the chain!
Secondly it's for looks, whatever suits you, whether that be a chain guard or hugger.
Thirdly is purely how much crap you don't want to clean off the rest of your bike :(
You've seen the shit that gathers in there, imagine all that over your wheels and the under the seat area :(
The shock already has a cover there to protect it, but if the grease etc went on your tyres, no no no

Just do what sinto said with the washers, the rubber part is just to separate metal from plastic and any vibrations risking cracking the plastic, and the metal tube part is to stop you over tightening and clamping the hugger to the swing arm clamp, the nut and bolt hits the tube before any clamping action --- a bit like your side stand bolt

The grommets that you fit into metel electric back boxes may fit
