Title: Need some advice. It's all good
Post by: Jimdy04 on 04 June 2015, 01:22:47 pm
Hi all,
Got a fazer 600 "99".
Seals went on it but got it sorted today. On my travels to the shop this morning, all is fine except seals (obviously).
Upon receiving the bike back and setting off home, I have noticed that at around 5-6-7 thousand revs as I pull the throttle, it's like the clutch dips until it hits say 7 thousand and shoots off like a bastard, and I'm struggling to hold on.
The bike has only done 4200 miles. I have done just over 200 on it.
Originally the power seemed smooth all the way through but now is very noticeably different. It feels more like a 2 stroke now. Am I hitting a power band or is there something wrong? Has the engine finally been broken in? Any ideas guys?
Many thanks
Jim

There is an increase in power delivery at 7000rpm, it's normal, and once you learn that it's there it becomes great fun too.  :thumbup

Thanks guys.

Just had an independent mechanic give me the score..
The clutch is slipping and just needs adjusting...

Oh and when I refer to seals.. I mean navy seals.

Cheers again all

My clutch slips a bit when the engine is cold and I gun it - seems to sort its self out when its warmed up , I think its to do with the type of oil .

The surge of power at 7k is the party piece of the bike - plodding  dependable commuter keeping it under 7k -racer chaser keeping it over 7K!

That's how it felt originally, smooth power til 7 thou then boom..
before the slipping clutch saga that I now have to endure until it get sorted.
Gunna get the old man to have a tinker with it (the clutch that is not me)
Hopefully its just the adjustment that it requires and not something major... Or expensive (sad face)
Keep you updated.

The clutch may just need adjusting properly at the lower end first, then tweaking at the lever end.

I'm surprised that you say the clutch slips between 5 & 6 thousand rpm then grips again at 7 thousand - that isn't the way clutches slip - I can't imagine that once it slips, adding more throttle and revs will stop it from slipping (surely that would just make it slip more).

You have me confused !!!

wait till it hit`s 10,000 then it starts buzzzing

clutch cable is prone to drying out so is mechanism in side casing so strip clean n re-grease/lubricate
should be able to pull clutch in with 2 fingers with eeze n b smooth on release
