Title: deep cleanng front sprocket cover gasket question

I just bought 2003 Foxeye. Aparently there is a gasket on the front sprocket cover. Do I need to change it each time I remove the cover to deep clean the sprocket and the chain?

If yes where do you buy cheap ones?

For what its worth mine was in bad shape so i purposely took the remenants off and have not replaced it - but i still wonder if there should be something compressible there.....more for securing the cover as opposed to stopping anything leaking out...

I kept an eye on the bolts and i was not sure if sometimes there were a little loose and needed nipping up... :\

but think others have had no issues and not replaced them

Post by: darrsi on 30 May 2015, 01:10:26 pm: I've never replaced it, bolts have never ever budged either, as long as they're torqued up properly i wouldn't worry about it.

Post by: Fazerider on 30 May 2015, 01:37:13 pm: No need to replace it, just be aware that the clutch take-up point will be slightly changed so you may want to check the adjustment.
