Post by: red98 on 14 May 2015, 08:24:52 pm
Anyone one bought a timing cover gasket recently ?.....iam in the process of painting my engine and I need 3 gaskets to put it back together, found the clutch and alternator gaskets but not the timing cover, can see it in full sets on ebay but a bit steep at £150....or do I use some gasket sealant ?

LOL.....you read my mind :lol......iam pretty sure if I clear my shed out I'll find a piece of gasket paper....oh yes,I am really that old :eek.......with a nice freshly painted engine I want a nice join between covers and block, I do have some black instant gasket which will do the job but can be a bit messy, dont want to mess up the new paint   :D.......I'll order the other two , mr kellog will help untill I find the third....

I have 3 or 4 different thickness gasket papers, the newest one is about 16 years old that I bought to make a new sump gasket on my Suzuki GSX750, one of the most cost effective things to keep in the garage if your old and mean like me :)

It is cheaper to buy the gaskets from your local Yamaha dealer than it is from eBay, I found that last years when I was buying gaskets.
