Title: FZS600 Generator Cover Removal
Post by: jacques schiddt on 17 April 2015, 02:37:13 pm
Hello,

I want to clean up the generator cover on my FZS600 (Year 2000 - W reg).
Do I simply remove the five bolts around the edge of the cover, or the five bolts plus the big one which is sort of 2 o'clock?

Muchas gracias!

JS :)

p.s. I've attempted to attach a relevant photo but I don't know if this will work or not...

You only need to undo the 5 round the edge. The larger one is the timing mark inspection window.  You will need to disconnect the wiring before removing the cover. You probably need to take the sprocket cover off to get to it from what I remember

Thanks Jules. I guess I'll just have to try harder.

They can often get stuck on the location dowels. Double check you haven't missed a screw and try tapping GENTLY round the join with a soft mallet to break the seal

I've just got the thing off...I made a generator-cover removal tool and it worked!  :)
Thank you for your advice.  I'll post a pic of the gadget later.

BTW...I presume I can simply unscrew the electrics and re-fit them the same way, once I've painted the cover?

Muchas gracias,

The bolts will be in with threadlock so might be hard to undo
