Title: clutch lever pivot
Post by: Tuckerhauser on 17 February 2015, 06:56:47 pm
Evening
had my gen 1 Fazer since Sept and the clutch lever has always had a wobble!
I bought the bike of a mate who fitted aftermarket levers but I know the standard levers that were fitted when he bought it wobbled too
After looking at microfiche there's a spacer in the pivot but the hole thru the spacer is bigger on my bike than the diameter of the bolt that secures lever.
Can anyone confirm that the bolt/spacer is correct?
Before I start buying parts;-)
Thanks

I can't confirm whether that is the correct spacer or not but sometimes the bolt or spacer can get worn and cause the lever to feel wobbly. That happened on my old ZRX1100,  only cure was new spacer bush and bolt.

I think most of my bike brake levers have wobbled!
One thing I have noticed is that after market lever bushes are generally a crap fit and have a lot of play in them. I've had to make my own bushes to reduce the wobble.
The flip side is if they're too tight, they bind with the housing, create a stiff lever action, and wear the lever mountings prematurely.

It could be your lever mounting hole elongated, bushing material is harder than the lever. U try to put in the bushing to the lever mount hole see if there's excessive movement when u rotate it, if it is...change the lever to get a more accurate feel.

Mate made a new bush for me on his lathe
Fitted it last nite, its alot better takes the excessive wobble out of lever
