Title: Front Fork Stanchion Protectors - Removal

Can anyone enlighten me as to how to remove the black plastic stanchion protectors on the top of the fork legs please? (FZS1000 Gen1)

Other than prying them off, there doesn't seem to be any other way of removing them and I'd prefer not to damage them during removal................. anyone got any ideas or had any success in removing them?

I got mine off (FZ400) by wiggling them left to right until they came loose. Maybe some WD would help? I didn't need any though.
