Sounds like the cables are a tad too tight, try slakening them off a bit...

I've had grips touching the switches before causing that to happen as well, a bit of patience with a razor blade sorted that out.
Make sure the grip is not rubbing on anything.
Rather than just fail it i'd have thought they might have at least pointed out why it was happening for you.

First check is the same as darrsi suggests above- check the grip isn't fouling anything, or have you by any chance replaced the grips recently - it's very easy to put too much glue on the grips/ throttle tube which can over run and gunge it all up making it stick!

Wd40 between the grip and the throttle housing might help  :)

May also be worth squirting some WD40 over the spring mechanism at the carb end in case some crap has built up - had to do this on mine and on my car where the cable connects to the throttle body...

Most common issue is as mentioned above - make sure the grips aren't fowling the switches
