Title: ...New Battery time
Post by: elektrikAlien on 15 January 2015, 07:43:18 pm
Hi -
The (old-ish) battery in my fzs1000 is dying - I had to get a jump start today - all this cold weather has made me realise that the thing is f----ed!
The question is, which  battery to get?
I need something that I can trickle charge as I often do short journeys - and one that has plenty of starting power - especially for the cold winter mornings.  I've had  Yuasa and Banner 'bike Bull' when I had a Honda cb750 - but I am looking at a Unibat CT14B-BS.  I believe these are fitted oem to Ducatis.  Does anyone know if they are any good -are they as good as Yuasa?
Advice please - Thanks ! :rolleyes

I would stick with the Yuasa YT14B-BS it has a high (210) cranking amps for cold starting.

+1. This is the recommended spec battery for your bike.

I just went with a motobatt, great batteries and really like the fitting options with extra posts for accessories if needed :)

Let me know which one you choose and how it performs. I had to jump start mine during the week although it's not been started for a couple of months. I've coupled it to the trickle charger so I'll see how it goes.

Thanks for all your advice lads -
I went for the Yuasa battery in the end as I got a very good deal for one through a friend.  Apparently you need beware of imitation Yuasa batteries  for sale on the internet tho- thats what I heard on the grapevine - don't know how  much truth there is in that  - but wouldn't surprise me tbh.  Will  add another post soon,  to report on  how I get on with the new battery and give my verdict !!
