Title: Pillion pegs
Post by: Timbo on 29 December 2014, 05:06:09 pm
Hi all

Does anyone know of pillion peg extention "effort" or if any one offers a lowering option.

My lovely lady has an iffy knee and is struggling to last a full day on the bike which limits our future touring plans.

I do'nt want to have to chop the offending leg off, she looks lovely with both.

Any one have any ideas on lowering the pillion peg position?

Thanks

Timbo

Ps Shiney side up is best!! :D

The amount you can lower by, is limited by the exhaust, but you could probably drop the exhaust by about 25 mm with any ill effect

Maybe a flat bar with 4 holes drilled  appropriately to lower the mounting points of the footrest brackets might be worth a try.

Thanks Unfazed

They might do the trick

I have also found MFW Vario pegs which give a 50mm offset.

I suspect tho a different bike might be in order as even 50mm won't give much relief to Paula's knee

 :eek

here's some leftfield solutions that may not be adopted but might spark a further idea:

- raise the rear seat height /  add a cissy bar backrest (especially in conjunction with lower pegs)

- change the foot pegs for flat boards - a more comfortable foot will ease knee strain

- add a sidecar and put her in that

- put her in someone else's sidecar and enjoy your ride

- add a trailer and put her in that

- (my favourite) keep the fazer and put her on her own bike

What I do when my wifes knees need a break on long runs, especially on motorways is put my foot/feet on the engine bar or crash bung (depending on the bike I am using) and she puts her foot/feet on the riders foot rest. We have it down to a fine art now. :)
