Title: error codes on rev counter
Post by: elektrikAlien on 30 October 2014, 08:50:56 pm
Hi - when out on my 2002 fzs1000 today, the rev counter started behaving  strangely -it was jumping between 0 - 1000 rpm and the temperature light situated on the dial flashed. This happened a few times and then the rev counter behaved normally.  I did not notice any problems  with the  way the bike was running.  I looked up the error codes, but couldn't find one  for 0-1000rpm. Does anyone out there know WTF is going on ??
Thanks guys. :rollin

Sounds like the usual low voltage problem. The cockpit resets randomly if the supply voltage reaches the lower end (about 10V). Might be a weak battery, but more likely some contact issue combined with aging of the loom. Full battery voltage is not reaching the cockpit. Check all connectors. Sometimes the R/R connector is fried and battery charging is not ensured. Sometimes it's the ignition barrel.
