Oh really? I taxed mine earlier this month and just stuffed it in the top box as it seemed unlikely I'd be caught for not-displaying and I kept forgetting / was too lazy to put it in the holder.

But if I need to display until I re-tax then I'll definitely need to pop it in as I don't think I'd get away with it not being in place for another 11 months

Ah ha so I can remove it now then, its just that when it has been talked about by politicians/ news they used words like --- roll out -- transition which made my think it would be a slow process as each vehicle was taxed after 1st Oct

I taxed mine end of august and recieved a letter with printed pic of my disc on the bottom of it because they had run out of real discs  :eek the letter said I didnt have to display it as my bike had gone onto the new system so not had one on since begining of sept but carried it under my seat just in case  :)

I look forward to removing mine, then cutting the last fairing mount off which i was using to attach the tax disc holder.

I also like the direct debit options they have: I can just set up a rolling monthly payment which makes it really damn easy, compared to scraping together a lump sum every 6/12 months. I think mine works out at about £5 per month. Nice.

Nope!  Never displayed them anyway.  They are all neatly filed away with the rest of my bikes documents.

Allegedly if they are still in mint condition i.e stil attached & perforations not broken they will become collectors items in the future & worth money!

so the experts are claiming!

but how long that will be is anyones guess... 20/30 years??
I have taken mine off display and put a picture in the tax holder :)

Can't really see how they could become worth very much unless the disks didn't follow the vehicle at point of sale and said vehicle became a pristine classic.
I've got all the tax discs for the bike and like others I doubt they'll be thrown away, just kept in a tin by all like Greenshield and Coop stamps  ;)

I wish I'd kept the fuel ration book that was issued in the early 1970 because I've looked on ebay and they are going for 99p

I dont think anything that people say now will be collectable in the future -will be as everyone will of saved one. What you need to collect is somthing and keep your mouth shut whilst everone else throws them away.

Leaving mine on the bike, just to see how many people tell me that I do not need it anymore.
