Since my last Tyre did over 10k miles and there seems to be a lot who talk of only getting 5 or 6k out of theirs I'd be interested to seeing a pictures showing the tread on the day tyres get changed
-
This is my mate's front tyre after a 2400 mile European road trip. Don't know how many miles he had done on it beforehand.
-
Apparently, he said it was interesting riding back down the Alps in the rain. :lol
-
Now that's worthy of a change even if it does still have tread :)
-
This is how PR3 looked the day I changed it for PR4. I got 20k miles over 19 months out of that tyre. 20k miles work commute, with about 70% motorway riding.

Interesting looking chicken line there Positron :lol
-
Yeah I was going to get a belt sander to scrub off the sides... just for you... :p
-
I suppose commuti g is a very different kind of riding to whatwe weekend riders do.i bet you are not in such a hurry as we are.
-
Here's my pilot road 3 on the thou mids with circa 4.5k on it.
Realistically i would say this tyre is now ready to be changed although i have lots of tread on the sides it is squared off and just down the limit in the centre so although i might eek out just a little bit more on it since it's almost end of season it is passed it.

This is the standard fit BS S20R after 1646 miles of ZZR1400 ing

If you'd have asked me a few days ago I could have, but I got about 13,000 miles out of my Bridgestone 023 rear before it got right down to the wear markers.

I wouldn't say that (speaking personally ofcourse)

Yeah I'm wishing I'd taken a pic of my rear before changing it. I'd really squared it down but it was ok commuting, bit dodgy on the white lines though and as for the weekend warrior work the initial lean into the corner as a little hair raising but I'm sure I actually started to round the edge off again :) That said I don't think I'll be wearing future tyres down to that degree

Saw this one when I was in italy in June. Might just need replacing!

My bt023 rear after 7.5k and bt023 front after 8.5k , mainly used for pleasure on A and B roads , the occasional commute across town , and I did go from Bristol to John o groats and to Ypres on these tyres , the rear is a bit squared off .
-
My contis look worse than them after only 1500 miles!
-
My rear PR3 on the 1000 after 4000 miles, might get another 1000 out of it :lol
Notice the mushroom plug in the centre of the thread :)
-
It's trying to avoid bloody punctures as well. I worked out I average a puncture every 7000 miles :eek
Yup pucture by a stane as per snap.
Got this one to stick back on once I've finished the PR3 that's on there at the mo (front was worn oot so I just for a pair)
Oh I think that PR2 has done about 3000 miles, looking half worn or maybe just over half worn.
And talking of PR2 and PR3. Find the PR3 much gripper. The PR2 would slip at the rear now and again if I was pressing on.
Looking forward to PR4's in the near future.

VNA --- Thats one of the most bizarre items i have seen to puncture a tyre.
I have bem unlucky with rear tyres - never had to replace a worn one just one with a hole in it
-
The other side is almost razor sharp. I guess it got wedged in the tread and worked it's way in.
I found it flat when I came out after a day at work. I couldn't help thinking that I was lucky (again :eek ), that wee thing could have pout a nice cut in then let go.
Not so lucky today with the police.
