Title: I need a victim
Post by: devilsyam on 21 January 2012, 08:21:16 am
i keep getting asked if the r6 shock mod is for the fazer 600 well time to test it out

so i need a willing victim to help me with this

from pictures i have seen this will only work with years with fork bottom connections

i need to know the eye center to eye center measurement, size of top and bottom hole,
 dia of spring

dogbones i need the eye to eye center on these, thickness

i need someone who is willing to give the conversion ago, it wont be free but will be at cost
as part of the deal, you would need to evaluate the ride both solo to up and with luggage if poss

you need to be localish to bristol

Been wondering about alternatives for mine, the rear suspension was fairly incompetent to begin with and age hasn't improved it. Sadly I'm too far away (and only ever ride lightly loaded anyway) so I'll just have to wait for news of your results.
There was a chap on the previous forum who was going to experiment with refurbishing old Fazer rear shocks, in fact I sent him an old one to work with, but never found out how he got on.

Just for info , I  did a little shock swapping last year . I use a thou shock on my 600 ,"with 600 spring fitted"   The 600 gen 1 spring is 800 lb approx half the rating of the thou!  The thou shock unmodified will hit the cooling tank.
I guess the R6 shock will physically fit the 600 no probs but spring will be to soft . I would not think the extra gas compession will compensate for lack of spring !
