Title: R1 front end my way
Post by: devilsyam on 19 January 2012, 11:58:27 am
Since i did this way back when i thought i'd revisit it now that many R1's models have since been and gone

As usal i want it to look as factory as possable

1st stage was the fitment and sorting of spacers and disc's to fit the later r1 5 spoke wheels

So shopping list was then put in place and ebay put to good use

A set gen 2 yokes were sourced

Now the fazer stem was swapped out but was 1mm to small into bottom yoke so the stem was turned down to - 3mm and
a top hat made +4mm and welded in place this did away with the need to pin

gen 2 yokes also retained the factory look i was after rather than a after market r1 top yoke or a rewoked r1 top yoke

Now it is well know i personally dont like the lines of the gen 1 when not correcting the fork length i just dont like the
stance

so a set extenders were made and capped off with my frame plugs

these will give me back the lost length on the 08 legs and still if i require allow me to drop the front up to 10mm
this also overcomes the sidestand issue

std dics on the 08 are 298 and i can use the r6 ones already fitted but i have some 320mm from the 04-06
i am going to use along with the six pot calipers
