error message  - please try again later
I click the "error message" and this lot comes upVideo player error messageIf you’re getting a player error message, most of the time, the video should start working again in about 30 minutes. This error can sometimes happen if the uploader is making changes to the video, there’s an issue with your Internet connection speed, or the video is being removed or having other issues. What you can do

Try loading a video, and if it doesn't load, hold in the CTRL key, and press F5 (this is called a cache refresh, it will clear the cache for the page you are on, and refresh the page at the same time so it covers step 2 and 8 in one simple move). It may or may not work.

I know your not tech savvy, but is your flash player upto date?

I bought a new laptop 2 months ago and have been having the same issues you describe. Sometimes there is no sound for no apparent reason and sometimes videos on youtube don't play. I just reboot it as its quick. Im on windows 8 and IE.

If I find anything out I'll post here as well, but not too bothered about the problem at present.

seems to be a common issue with windows 8/flash player combinations (flash in integrated into IE in windows 8).

This step by step guide should help, and its still pretty simple for the non-tech savvy:

Ditch IE, it's a bloated piece of crap and always has been. Use Google Chrome (https://www.google.com/intl/en_uk/chrome/browser/), you'll be amazed at how much faster it is.  With it you can use things like Ad Blocker, I've not seen an advert on Youtube for years.

My advice would have been to change browser to Firefox or chrome as well, but the OP did state he was not interested in changing browser. :)

Oh I know...it's just that changing to Chrome would be a much easier fix that sorting out the scourge that is IE.  People have to be told!!!  :lol

Not changing. Adding. I only use FF when IE doesn't work for a particular website.

I dont like chrome because google wants you to use all google stuff and pass words and link this and that and log in and stuff  but firefox only does browsers
