Title: First Ride Feedback & Queries
Post by: Peasy on 02 July 2014, 09:43:23 pm
Hi all,

Been out tonight for 120 mile or so ride to really try and get used to the new to me 05 thou. Id only done 30 miles up to now so was keen to get a longer run in.

So, what I have learned?

Cracking bike with not bad handling for standard suspension set up with some settings pinched from here.
When making progress and the revs hit approx. 7.5k the thing takes off, puts a smile on the face, bit like hitting the power band on the old 2 strokes!

It does have the low speed constant throttle surge so will address that at some point. Cant really find anything else that would require any attention so happy days.

Have done 150 miles on the tank so far and the light just came on as I came down the hill towards home and I have been doing twisty bits with plenty of gear changes and start stops so pleased with that fuel eco.

The previous owner appears to have fitted a 45T rear sprocket, am I right in thinking standard is 44T?

Off to Germany for the motogp next week so looking forward to the ride!  :D

cheers
Lewis

Happy for you mate! New bike is always exciting. When I test drove new to me fazer 1000 2 months ago I forgot how good it feels to ride a bike as I had 1 year break. You can sort out suspension cheaply and then it's a cracking full package!

Wear well

Paul

If you are feeling a real increase in power at about 7.5k rpm, you might have an issue with your Exup not closing at lower revs.
You should be able to feel the power build smoothly from idle to red line with no steps.

surging is sorted with an ivans kit (search, there's plenty of info on here)
