Anyone on here a Gold?
What was the test like?
-
I dotn think you can take a 'rospa gold' test. I think you take a Rospa test, and you get graded Gold (highest a civvy can get), Silver, of big fat fail.
-
Not to hijack a thread, but I've been thinking about doing an advanced riding course, how does Rospa differ from say IAM? I know the Rospa requires repeated testing every xx years, but apart from that I don't know what if any difference there is.
My understanding of Rospa was as above though, it's just one test and you get graded at the end depending on your ability.
-
Sorry yes the test is one test - I am aiming high and want the GOLD
re-tested every three years to maintain standards.

Not really any difference, IAM you either pass or fail though, but you can pay for a retest any time to keep your standards up.

Technically you're actually either "Recommended" or "Not Recommended" for full IAM Membership :)
BOT AFAIK RoSPA and IAM tests are fairly similar, however they may have different levels of emphasis (RoSPA being more safety oriented, I believe) however I've only done IAM, so I can't say more than that.

Theres no smiley for "whatever" :lol

I'm IAM, my mate's done both and says Rospa is much better........he got a Silver and thought on another day he would've had a gold except the ex police man was ultra keen. I've mentioned this fellas name to a few Rospa instructors who pissed themselves laffin coz they know his rep!!
what difference does a wet or dry clutch make to your riding anyway???
pass IAM and that's it for life, Rospa resit every 3 yrs so have a higher membership rate due to peeps failing or not bothering after 3 yrs
-
Do these tests qualify you to be a bike instructor or are they just to prove your level of awesomeness?

The IAM have recently introduced the "Masters" qualification which (presumably in an attempt to one-up RoSPA) is a two year requalification, although you still keep your standard IAM Membership even if you don't requalify.
-
Interesting debate. I had a crack at the IAM and although I was unable to reach test standard gained a lot from it. It would be interesting to have a session with a RoSPA instructor to see how the two differ.

went along to the group meeting tonight and seem a good group of guys - there was even a fzs600 there
-
stick with it, you'll be a better rider for it even if you don't do the test
