Title: Strip rear panels and shorten?
Post by: helloindustries on 21 June 2014, 05:22:18 pm
Very much considering removing the rear panels, moving the CDI etc forward and dumping the stock rear light in favour of something just behind the sub-frame and LED-like. Then remounting the indicators and plate.

Anyone seen this done? Would love to see some 'after' shots so that i can decide if i want to spend the time/effort/money.

If i DO go through with it, i imagine i'll sell the rear plastics on ebay or something, which will probably cover the cost.

I have the fairing off my bike at the mo, and it looks awesome! Much more aggresive stance.

I'd say go for it! And pics, pics, pics!  :)

Google brings up this:

Far as i know that's a 'shop, but close enough, i guess.

I'll be keeping the stock seat and grab rail. Not modding the frame itself. I just find the rear to be WAY too long. Next step will be to get a shorter can...

Oh, and: Yes. Pics. I'm taking step-by-step pics as i go. Once i get to a reasonable point with the bike, i'll post up an album of pics.

I want to do this too. My inspiration is this, although not quite as stumpy - I want the seat to be long enough for someone to sit pillion.
