Title: Any ideas what this noise could be !!!!
Post by: Alchie on 09 June 2014, 09:45:24 pm

Hello I'm new to the forum and new to the fazer 1000.
I've had my '53 plate for a few weeks now and have just noticed a single click noise. When coasting slowly in 2nd with clutch in, if I just touch the throttle a little I hear this single click noise.
Any ideas or help would be appreciated
Thanks

Hi and welcome.

It would help if you could give us some idea where the noise appears to be coming from.  Front/rear?  Maybe down by the front sprocket or chain?

Oops sorry I'm not sure but I think it's from right hand side of the engine, either clutch or cam adjuster. But it's defenetly from engine area

How would I check the ais.
Could it be possibly the cam tentioner ?
The bike has 18,000 on the clock.

My guess is normal transmission backlash being taken up when you blip the throttle.  There's enough drag caused by oil on the clutch plates for it to do that.

Ride more, worry less. :)

PS.  But check your chain and sprockets, just in case. ;)

May well be a completly normal noise. As you are new to the bike you will get used to how it sounds. I have only had mine a couple of weeks and the accoustics of this bike are very different to my previous bike. The kwak I had before was all engine and induction roar. The fazer is very quiet engine wise and all I hear are the chain and sprockets.
If worried about it, better getting a second opinion from someone in the flesh.
